The REX120D beam renovation kit is the essential tool for restoring your old beams and woodwork. It allows you to effortlessly remove varnish, wax, or old protective coatings. Thanks to its specialized brushes, it strips without damaging the wood, preserving the authenticity and texture of your beams.
This kit is designed for solid wood, whether soft (pine) or hard (oak), and adapts to flat surfaces but especially to the irregular surfaces of old beams.
Intensive stripping (thick varnish and wax):
On hardwoods and flat surfaces, use the 36-grit strip brush (110916) to remove varnish or thick paint.
For stripping uneven surfaces, the 60-grit red nylon wire brush (110886) is effective for soft wood, intermediate stripping, or removing wax residue.
Sanding and finishing (smoothing):
On flat hardwood surfaces, intermediate sanding can be done with the 80-grit belt sander (110869), which provides a good balance between abrasion and protection of the surface.
For finishing and sanding before applying a new stain, paint, or wax, use the 120-grit synthetic fiber brush (110873).
Restoration involves stripping away old layers of finish (varnish, wax, or wood stain). The REX120D renovator with strip brushes (36 or 80 grit) and red nylon brush allows you to restore the wood to its raw state.
No. Sanding or stripping is always necessary to ensure that the new paint or stain will adhere properly. The REX120D renovator does this work mechanically and more quickly than traditional sanding.
After stripping with REX120D renovator, you can apply a clear stain to preserve the rustic look, paint to modernize, or simply wax to preserve the beam's character.
